Do You Need a Personal Bankruptcy Lawyer in Toronto?
In the vast majority of cases, bankruptcy lawyers in Toronto and for that matter, anywhere in Canada, are not part of the personal bankruptcy filing process.
Lawyers in Canada are not allowed to file or administer bankruptcies.
In Canada, only Trustees in Bankruptcy (such as ourselves) who have been licensed by the government through the Superintendent of Bankruptcy – are allowed to file and administer bankruptcies.
Our Canadian bankruptcy system, as set up in the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act – assigns Trustees in Bankruptcy the duty to ensure the fairness and accuracy of the process.
There are occasions when a personal bankruptcy lawyer may be required for assistance in matters other than filing the documents, however, if a lawyer is required – we will let you know.
